Teaser Tuesday/Tune in Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"There was a gusty wind blowing in at the windows and the soot from the oil burners of the hotel next door was down-drafted into the room and rolling across the top of the desk like tumbleweed drifting across a vacant lot. I was thinking about going out to lunch and that life was pretty flat and that it would probably be just as flat if I took a drink and that taking a drink all alone at that time of day wouldn't be any fun anyway."

The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

Tune in Tuesday is hosted by Ginger at GReads! It's a nice way to share some music and see what other people like.

I've been listening to this song a lot lately, combination between Paul McCartney's voice and Johnny Depp's face is beautiful.

You had me at Johnny Depp.

Great, representative Chandler! I love this one. Let's have a drink.

Wow, the first line of that Teaser is looong!! I like it though! And I am definitely hoping over to GReads for Tune in Tuesday! Thanks for sharing!

oooh, a classic -- that's a nice change of pace from most of the Teaser Tuesday selections!

I'm glad most people like Chandler, i know i do. :)

@Alan
I know it's different but i love crime stories and classic so it's a win/win for me.

I haven't read any of Raymond Chandler's books but I will now! His stories are classics. However, you can tell that this book was published in 1939. Nowadays, an editor wouldn't let him use "was" in every single sentence! Passive verb.
My Teaser today is from LEAVING SERENITY.

That video was excellent! I'm not a huge fan of Paul McCartney, but this just worked so well. I loved it!

I have never heard that song before... but I'm totally diggin' Johnny Depp signing in the video. :) It kind of sounds like it should be in a James Bond movie or something... hee hee.

Thanks for sharing!
